Gift wrapping tips

Creating beautiful wrapping might feel a bit overwhelming, but fear not! Curlicue are here to help. Here are a few tips to make it easy for you to wrap gifts in way that is quick, easy and will impress your loved ones.

How to measure wrap for your gift (and reduce paper waste)

Cutting the right amount of wrapping paper is the key to a neatly wrapped present and leaves you with more wrap to use by reducing wasted wrapping paper. In this video our founder Hema talks through how to measure gift wrap - made even easier by the cutting lines on the back of our wrap!

Use double-sided tape

Double-sided tape is a gift wrapper's secret weapon. It helps you get a neat finish on your wrapped gifts, and best of all, our eco-craft double sided tape is plastic-free and biodegrades.

With our eco-tape you can easily tear it (which means no more sticky scissors), press down onto the paper and then peel the other side off using the finger-lift excess. Press the other side of the wrap on and voila!

Gift Bags

Making a gift bag out of wrapping paper is one of our favourite wrapping hacks! They look fantastic and are so much cheaper than gift bags. and they are quick and easy to make once you've got the hang of them which never takes too long. It's a great way to use up wrapping paper and is a sustainable alternative to gift bags that use a non-recyclable materials.

Best for:

  • Small to medium gifts
  • Awkwardly shaped gifts

Envelopes

An oversized envelope made from wrapping paper is perfect for tickets, vouchers and experiences. You can see how easy it is to make in our video tutorial below. All you need is our double-sided eco tape to go with the wrap. In our tutorial we use half a sheet of wrap and the cutting lines on the back make it very easy to keep the envelope neat.

Origami Bows

Making an Origami Bow is the perfect way to add a special touch to your gift and use up offcuts of wrapping paper to reduce waste (and they can be reused! Just use some of our double-sided eco tape to attach it to the gift and remove before you recycle the wrap).
